One Chance to Protect This Land
To preserve open space, protect the Environmental Nature Center,
and honor what makes Newport Beach special.
What’s at Stake?
1501 E. 16th Street sits directly behind the Environmental Nature Center and ENC Preschool - land that has quietly supported wildlife, children, and hands-on environmental learning for decades.
The ENC offers nature-based preschool programming, hosts field trips from schools across the region, and runs beloved seasonal camps throughout the year. It’s a vital part of what makes Newport Beach special.
Now, that adjacent 1.5-acre parcel is at risk of being turned into high-density housing. If developed, rooftop decks, noise, and traffic will dramatically impact the natural experience children have at the ENC and degrade the surrounding ecology.
We believe our city can do better. We have a window of opportunity to protect this land - and we intend to use it.

The Project
This parcel- nestled between the Environmental Nature Center and its preschool is unlike anything else remaining in Newport Beach. It’s not just open space. It’s a living classroom, a quiet buffer, a safe corridor for children and wildlife, and a sacred corner of community memory.
For the current owner, this is a rare chance to be part of something that outlives the market cycle.
We’re organizing to show that the public is ready, the pathway exists, and the time is now.
